Why should my son/daughter play football at Fleetwood Gym FC?
Participation in a team sport has long been recognised as playing an important role in the development of a child's character. It teaches the child responsibility, discipline and helps to develop a child's concentration span.
Team sport widens a child's range of friends and provides a healthy outdoor activity which leads to increased fitness and development of their motor skills.
Football is basically a simple game and is easy to learn. It is truly a team sport in which the size of the player has little relevance. Football, although classed as a contact sport does not have the type of injuries other sports do.
Fleetwood Gym FC will soon be an FA Chartered Development Club that provides a safe environment in which your child can improve their football skills as well as having a good time.
When do they play?
The season usually runs between September and April. Generally children under 10 years play on Saturdays. Children from 11-16 play on Sundays so they can meet school or work commitments.
How old do you have to be to start playing soccer?
Usually children have turned 5 years of age before they start to play soccer, and Fleetwood Gym FC will introduce a Football academy to accommodate these young players.
Do young children play on a large pitch?
No. Children aged 5 to 10 years play Mini Soccer, this is played on a much smaller pitch with smaller goals. Mini Football has modified rules to give the kids more fun and time on the ball.
Do many girls play football?
Girls and boys play in mixed teams from 5-11 years of age. From 11 years onwards girls play in an all girls team.
Fleetwood Gym FC will welcome all girls who would like to come and play football.
How much does it cost?
Fleetwood Gym FC, charge a registration , there are reduced charges for parents with more than one child at the Club.
In addition, parents are expected to pay subs at £4 per week. These subs. go towards the Training, referees' charges, presentation, league fees, pitch fees, equipment, development and Club funds.
Subs will also be collected throughout the summer break to enable team coaches to gain funds for, new kit and equipment and team expenses.
The club encourage all our teams to enter local Football Tournaments the cost of these are not included in your subs. Parents are asked to pay for their child to enter or sell a football card to raise the money.
Fleetwood Gym FC, will provide match strip (socks, shorts and shirts) either included in your registration or via sponsorship. All kit is the property of the club and not the individual and must therefore be looked after in the proper manner. Players must provide their own shin guards, boots and training kit. Fleetwood Gym FC will also provide training aids (balls, bibs and cones).
Who pays player fines?
Players fined in matches for card offences are responsible to pay their own fines, this will also encourage better behaviour on the field.
Is my child covered by Insurance?
Yes. Fleetwood Gym FC has modest insurance included in your child's registration fee. This insurance is effective immediately when you register your child.
Players are only covered whilst travelling to and from games, training and playing games approved by the County FA in which we play.
My child has been injured whilst playing, what should I do?
If the player is registered with the Club and was injured playing or training you should advise your team manager as soon as possible. Your manager has an Incident Book where the injury should be entered.
I wouldn't mind helping at Fleetwood Gym FC what's involved?
There are various jobs where your help would be appreciated, Sometimes the smallest help can take the pressure of a manager, putting up the nets or just collecting match day subs. is a good example of this.
I am interested in sponsoring Fleetwood Gym FC what should I do?
There are various sponsorship packages available to those keen to help the Club. Contact Barry Whittaker either through your coach or by email at info@fleetwoodgym.co.uk. Alternatively contact the committee through the website.
On a point of interest: Funds raised for any particular team at Fleetwood Gym FC will ultimately belong to the club and not individuals as all funds are raised under the club banner.

FA CHARTER STANDARD
What is the charter standard and how does it concern me?
The FA Charter Standard Clubs programme, supported by FA Community Partner McDonald's, was launched in February 2001 with the aim of setting standards of coaching, administration and child protection for clubs working with young people.
The programme is aimed at boys and girls under 16 and will help children and parents find in their local area a club that meets FA standards of coaching, administration, development and child protection. Youth Clubs need to demonstrate:-
Management
Child Protection
Qualified Coaches
Fair Play
Insurance
Progression
However maybe the most important benefit is the recognition, from The FA, that the club provides a safe, quality environment for its young players.
